The coronavirus infection peak in Uzbekistan is approaching, the Сhief State Sanitary Inspector Nurmat Otabekov said at a briefing at the Information and Mass Communications Agency yesterday.
“Any epidemic has periods of start, rise, peak, fall and fading out. We are now in the period of rise. Because we haven’t tested all of the 100,000 quarantined people yet. If we strictly adhere to quarantine, we think we will arrive to the period of fall in 2-3 weeks,” he said.
The chief inspector commented on why the number of people infected had been rising sharply in recent days.
“The number of patients is increasing among those quarantined. As previously reported, 61,715 people are currently quarantined at home and 23,316 in hospital. This situation will continue until all who have been in contact with the patients have been identified. This is the purpose of quarantine and self-isolation measures”, he added.
