Mass testing for coronavirus is not planned in Uzbekistan, the chief state sanitary inspector Nurmat Atabekov announced at a briefing on Wednesday.
This is impractical and impossible. Any testing should be based on symptoms, he said, answering the given question.
We have tested all those who arrived from countries severely touched by the virus, and all who were in contact with patients tested positive. We deemed this to be the most realistic grounds for testing, he said.
When asked when the quarantine would end, he replied that such a decision would be made by the Special Republican Commission to Combat Coronavirus. This can happen if no case will be confirmed for the next 14 days after the last case was recorded.
All decisions taken by the government are aimed at this goal, he emphasized.
