Wildberries, the Russian online retailer, has expressed “increased interest” in entering the e-commerce market of Uzbekistan, Uztekstilsanoat association said.

This was discussed at a meeting of the leadership of the association with representatives of Wildberries on Tuesday in Tashkent.

56 Uzbek producers are already selling their products through Wildberries portal, whose total sales pulled 4.6 billion rubles (almost US$ 70 million) in 2019, a 31% year-to-year increase.

The parties also discussed providing Uzbek textile manufacturers with the opportunity to export their goods through the Wildberries e-platform, and discussed the well as increasing the volume of the local online e-market.

Wildberries works in 6 countries: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Poland, with more than 20 000 employees. The company's turnover in 2019 amounted to 223.5 billion rubles (US$ 3.3 billion). 19 thousand suppliers work successfully with the retailer, of which more than 12 thousand are small and medium-sized enterprises.
