Maqsuda Mustafaeva became the mayor of Kashkadarya’s Karshi district, replacing Gairat Begaliev. Her candidacy was approved at the extraordinary session of the district council of people's deputies on March 4, the governor’s office said.

Prior to this appointment, she worked as first deputy head of the regional department to support the mahalla and family.

Maksuda Mustafayeva became the fourth female mayor in Uzbekistan. Earlier, Sadbarkhon Mamitova was named the mayor of Buston district of Andijan province, Nargiza Nematova – mayor of Alat district of Bukhara province, and Dilfuza Uralova – mayor of Bayovut district of Syrdarya province.
