The Bukhara province governor, Uktam Barnoev was approved as Deputy Prime Minister in charge of agricultural and food sectors development, a government source told the Tashkent Times.
Deputies of the Legislative Chamber considered his candidacy at today’s meeting.
Uktam Barnoev had served as the Bukhara governor since December 2016.
The post of Deputy Deputy Prime Minister in charge of agricultural and food sectors development was introduced by a presidential decree of February 24.
His appointment needs to be signed by the president to take effect.
Uktam Barnoev, 55, graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (1981−1986).
In his career, Uktam Barnoev worked as First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources (2007−2008), governor of the Samarkand province (2008−2010), headed the Republican Water Authority at the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management (2011−2016), and was also chairman of Uzagrokimyo JSC (2016).
