Ground handling charges for aircrafts of foreign airlines at Uzbekistan airports will be reduced, Uzbekistan Airports said on its website.

Starting March 1, at all provincial airports, the fee for servicing arriving passengers will be lifted and the charge for handling cargo of foreign airlines will be reduced.

Also, for business class travelers of foreign airlines, the services cost at Business Lounge of the Tashkent Airport will be reduced.

“Reducing the costs for foreign airlines at the Uzbek airports is aimed at reducing the prices of air tickets, in addition, reducing of cargo handling charges will contribute to boost exports,” the statement said.

Earlier, the Minister of Transport, Elyor Ganiev said that Uzbekistan will try to lure foreign airlines to fly to Uzbekistan by lowering fuel prices and fees. The deputy Minister of Transport, Ilkhom Makhkamov also noted that it is planned to cut air ticket prices through involving low-cost airlines and tariff optimization.
