President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA), George Tsereteli.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted with satisfaction the upward trend in relations between Uzbekistan and the OSCE PA, which have been elevated to a new level, adding that a road map for development of cooperation with the OSCE PA for 2019-2020 was currently being implemented.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the OSCE PA delegation, which includes about 50 MPs, is for the first time monitoring the Uzbekistan elections.

George Tsereteli expressed his sincere gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and enhanced cooperation with the Assembly.

The OSCE PA President noted that Uzbekistan’s participation in the Assembly opened up new opportunities for promoting the country's interests with the parliaments of the OSCE member states.

In his opinion, the elections were of historical importance for Uzbekistan, since they were part of reforms, on the basis of the new Electoral Code, which also takes into account the recommendations of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights.
