The bodies of 6 people were recovered after a tunnel at the construction site of the Yunusabad metro line collapsed in Tashkent, the Ministry of Emergency Situations said.

The government commission is taking measures to assist the victims’ families, who will be paid 100 mln soums each and will be provided burial funds and funeral assistance. The relatives of the victims were at the scene all day

As reported earlier, a ground collapse accident occurred yesterday early in the morning at the Tashkent’s Yunusabad metro extension line. The cave-in was reportedly prompted by heavy rainfalls.

The completion date of the two new stations of the Yunusabad metro line was December 28.

According to the General Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal case was initiated by the Tashkent prosecutor’s office under Violation of labor protection norms that resulted in the death of a person (punishable from 2 to 5 years house arrest or up to 5 years of imprisonment) and Violation of the safety rules for mining, construction or explosive work that entailed the death of a person (punishable from 2 to 5 years house arrest or imprisonment up to 5 years) charges.
