President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has accepted the invitation of the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe and will pay an official visit to Japan on December 17-20, the presidential press service said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev will reportedly hold talks with Shinzo Abe, the President of the House of Councilors of Parliament, Akiko Santo, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tadamori Oshima and the Deputy PM/Minister of Finance, Taro Aso.

The parties are expected to discuss the ways to develop the Uzbek-Japanese relations and exchange views on the international problems.

The President of Uzbekistan will also be hosted by the Emperor of Japan, Naruhito.

The program of the visit also includes meetings with President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Sinichi Kitaoka and the heads of companies and financial institutions. It is planned to consider issues of building up cooperation between the businesses of the two countries and the investment by Japanese companies for major projects in Uzbekistan.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit one of the country's most important economic centers - the city of Nagoya, where he will meet with the governor of the prefecture, Aichi Hideaki Omura, the mayor Takashi Kawamura and the rector of Nagoya University, Seichi Matsuo, to discuss the prospects of establishing partnerships between cities and educational institutions.

A large package of documents aimed at strengthening cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, customs, tourism, scientific and technical areas is expected to be signed during the visit.
