Uzbekistan governors and mayors will no longer be able to distribute cars or apartments as presents, Jamshid Abruev, the chief of the main department of the Ministry of Finance said.
“In social networks, people фку ask where are the mayors are getting cash for cars and apartments they are distributing as gifts. We can say that money is taken from the additional revenues of local budgets. According to the 2020 State Budget of Uzbekistan, now mayors will spend additional income only with the approval of local deputies councils. This will improve budget discipline,” he added.
He noted said that mayor offices would be allowed to use only small amounts and only in emergency situations. At the same time, local authorities will provide expenses reports every quarter.
Recently, some mayors gave away cars and apartments to medalist-athletes, poets (for fine verses) and moms who gave birth to 3 twins, while not disclosing information on the source of the money.
