Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday hosted the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), Kunio Mikuriya, who arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the Ministerial Conference of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation, the presidential press service said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev commended the upward trend in bilateral cooperation bewteen Uzbekistan with the World Customs Organization.
“Since Uzbekistan joined the WCO (1992), joint activities and projects have been successfully implemented to build legal framework, modernize infrastructure and increase the efficiency of the Uzbekistan customs authorities,” the press service said.
The parties reportedly reviewed the practical aspects of expanding cooperation to increase the capacity of customs authorities through implementing international standards, equipping posts with modern equipment, strengthening the fight against offenses, and personnel training.
In addition, an agreement was reached on the joint development and adoption in the near future of a “road map” for deepening cooperation.
