European-Uzbekistan Economic Cooperation Association (EUROUZ) opened in Brussels on Tuesday. According to the Association, the event was attended by Uzbekistan delegation headed by the Foreign Minister, Abdulaziz Kamilov and First Deputy Chairman of the Senate, Sodiq Safoev with senior executives of Shell, British Petroleum, Knorr-Bremse A.G. Representatives of several European companies such as McDermott, Picanol, TechnipFMC, APCO Worldwide, chambers of commerce and associations established between Uzbekistan and some EU countries ant others.
Reportedly, the executives of European companies were briefed about reform efforts in Uzbekistan and steps aimed at improving the investment climate. Uzbekistan officials highlighted that advancing economic ties with European countries was one of Uzbekistan’s top priorities.
As a result of the event, the parties agreed to fully utilize the new platform to enhance cooperation with the European business community, the statement concluded.
