Uzbekistan wants to complete the negotiations and join the WTO as soon as possible, as well as to sign the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) with the European Union. However, we are not fixing any (specific) timelines whatsoever. said Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov at a press conference.

While, the minister Kamilov did not rule out that the PCA with the EU could be signed next year.

In November 2017, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the visit to South Korea said that Uzbekistan had resumed efforts to join the WTO. In July 2019, the Uzbek authorities submitted to the WTO the revised memorandum on the applicant’s foreign trade regime to join the organization. Earlier, the Deputy General Director of the WTO, Alan Wolfe, said that the negotiations could take two years.
