Uzbekistan purchased a large batch of Typhoon armored vehicles (K53949) from Russia, with deliveries due to begin in 2019, RIA Novosti said.

In 2019, Uzbekistan purchased Russian BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, Tiger armored vehicles, and Sopka-2 radar station. In addition, a contract is currently in force for the supply of 12 Mi-35M attack helicopters to Uzbekistan.

Typhoon is a Russian family of Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) armored vehicles in service since 2014. Around 120 Russian companies including KamAZ, Gaz-Group, Ural Automobile Plant, Yaroslavl Motor Plant, Steel Research Institute and Bauman University, etc. are taking part in Typhoon program.
