The Export Control and Related Border Security (EXBS) program under the U.S. Department of State handed over detection equipment for searching different compartments of a vehicle for hidden contraband to the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan, the committee said.
23 units of ST-40 inspection kits were reportedly handed over during a meeting with program adviser Nicholas Cavallero.
The EXBS Program seeks to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) and destabilizing accumulations and irresponsible transfers of conventional weapons. Under the program to date, the detection equipment worth nearly $ 5 million has been provided to Uzbekistan, with seminars, trainings and training events held.
