The Kashkadarya Chirakchi district criminal court on October 18 sentenced businessman Bahriddin Isomov to two years of hous arrest, and the former deputy mayor of the Yakkabag district Mansur Tuymaev to a fine and an obligation to pay damages to victims, the official representative of the Supreme Court, Aziz Abidov said.

As reported earlier, Bahriddin Isomov splashed gasoline over the deputy district mayor Mansur Tuymaev and set him on fire.

He tried to protect his two-story shop, which was being demolished under the Obod mahalla (transl. Improved neighborhood) urban development program, without compensation whatsoever being offered to owners, and deputy mayor was trying to personally perform the demolition in a bulldozer.

Bahriddin Isomov was found guilty of aAttempted murder under extreme emotional disturbance) of the Criminal Code and sentenced to two years of house arrest.

The court failed to see reasonable defence of property in Isomov’s actions. A person must be able to use reasonable force when defending himself, his family or property.

Mansur Tuymaev was charged with Violation of private property rights and Abuse of power or official authority. He was fined 510 basic settlement units (103.4 million soums) in state revenue with the deprivation of the right to hold official and materially responsible positions for one year.

In addition, the court ordered the Yakkabag district khokimiyat to fully compensate material damage to 61 entrepreneurs and 30 citizens affected by the actions of former deputy governor Mansur Tuymaev.
