The UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy for Road Safety Jean Todt will visit Uzbekistan on September 17-19, the Yuksalish National Movement said. Jean Todt is scheduled to meet with the Uzbek officials, business executives, representatives of the civil society and youth.

In particular, he plans to voice the UN’s commitment to support the government in improving road safety in Uzbekistan, encourage Uzbekistan to join and successfully implement the seven major UN Road Safety Conventions.

Among the goals of the visit is the presentation of the UN Road Safety Trust Fund, aimed at supporting the efforts of Member States in this area.

The Yuksalish office will host meetings of the special envoy with representatives of NGOs, taxi companies and the youth.

Established by the Jan. 2019 Presidential Decree, the Yuksalish Movement is the non-governmental non-profit organization with a network of branches. As per the organization’s charter, he Movement aims to establish an open dialogue with people and business community, the formation of an effective system of citizen oversight.
