Uzbekistan Airways agreed to provide slots for the Egyptian low-cost airline Nile Air after the intervention of the Antimonopoly Committee (AMC).
According to AMC, a Nile Air representative sent a request to the committee to help obtain slots for Sharm el-Sheikh -Tashkent route.
Flights on this route have been operated by the Egyptian AlMasria airline. Earlier, Nile Air’s application addressed to Uzbekistan Airways requesting to provide free slots were not satisfied.
On July 30, the Antitrust authority initiated a meeting at the Ministry of Transport with representatives of Uzbekistan Airways, at which the parties discussed the issue of providing Nile Air with a slot with an end “to develop healthy competition in this direction”.
Following the talks, the slots have been approved. Nile Air will begin flying from August 21.
