President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during his recent visit to Samarkand, instructed to build an elevated light metro, the Deputy PM in charge of Social Development Aziz Abdukhakimov told Uzbekistan 24.
It is expected that the line will connect Samarkand with the new tourist center, which will be located in the rowing canal.
“For the convenience of Samarkanders, so that they could at any time visit the tourist complex in the rowing canal, Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to build an elevated light metro. I must say that this initiative will be thought out in such a way as not to cause any inconvenience to the residents of Samarkand,” he said.
As previously reported, it is planned to allocate 360 hectares of land for the tourist center in the Samarkand province; a congress center, five, four and three-star hotels, alleys, swimming pools, artificial islands, restaurants and other facilties are planned to be built on 80 hectares.
