President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his trip to Samarkand familiarized himself with the Samarkand international airport reconstruction project, the presidential press service said.
It is planned to build another terminal, overhaul the runway, expand the aircraft apron and upgrade the radar systems. The new terminal will meet international requirements and will have 600 passenger per hour throughput capacity.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to itroduce modern airport management systems and increase the number of trains and buses on routes during the renovation.
Samarkand will host the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in 2022.
