A criminal case has been opened against the former Prosecutor General Otabek Murodov, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced today during the 20th plenary session of the Senate.
Otabek Murodov is reportedly accused of bribery.
Earlier, Otabek Murodov was dismissed from the post of the Prosecutor General.
Otabek Murodov was appointed the Prosecutor General in January 2018 by the President of Uzbekistan. Prior to that, he served as a presidential advisor.
Yesterday, the Senate’s chairman Nigmatilla Yuldoshev was appointed the new Prosecutor General.
