Nigmatilla Yuldoshev, the former Senate speaker, has been appointed as Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan to replace Otabek Murodov who was dismissed from the post of Prosecutor General inl ine with the clause 12 of Article 93 of the Constitution of Uzbekistan, the presidential press service said. The reasons for the sacking were not disclosed.
Otabek Murodov had served as the General Prosecutor since January 31, 2018. Prior to that, he served as State Advisor to the President (2017–2018). He worked as Deputy Minister of Justice (2015–2017) and held various positions in the President’s Administration (2010–2015) and the General Prosecutor’s Office (1998–2010).
Nigmatilla Yuldoshev had served as head of department and deputy General Prosecutor and also worked as Minister of Justice.
The new chairman of the Senate is expected to be elected to take place during the 20th plenary session on June 21.
