The Uzbekistan General Prosecutor’s Office has officially confirmed that it is conducting investigation against the former chairman of the State Security Service (SSS), Ihtiyor Abdullayev, the Deputy Prosecutor General Erkin Yuldashev said today at a briefing.

In the criminal case are also included the former First Deputy Head of the State Security Council, Jahongir Egamov, the former Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court, Chairman of the Judicial Panel on Administrative Cases, Bahodir Dekhkanov, and other 10 people.

“Ikhtiyor Abdullayev, Jakhongir Egamov, Bakhodir Dekhkanov and about 10 other officials are now facing Abuse Of Power and Taking Bribe charges,” he added.

Ikhtiyor Abdullaev in January 2018, took over as head of the National Security Service (NSS), replacing Rustam Inoyatov, who had been in charge of NSS since 1995. A year later, in February 2019, Ihtiyor Abdullayev was sacked.

Earlier, since 2015, he had served as the Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan, and since 2009, as state advisor to the president.

Bakhodir Dekhkanov held the position of Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court/ Chairman of the Judicial Panel on Administrative Cases since May 2017, and previously worked as Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Economic Court.
