The area near the Lake Tuzkan of the Aydar-Arnasay lakes system in the Jizzakh province has been identified as the priority site for the nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan, Uzatom agency reported.
From August 2018 to March 2019, the first stage of integrated engineering and survey works were conducted at four potential NPP sites in Navoi and Bukhara provinces in the Tudakul reservoir and three sites in Jizzakh province near Tuzkan Lake.
"Taking into account the results of surveys, engineering and economic feasibility, as well as the opinions of experts and the conclusions of international experts - the Lake Tuzkan area has been selected as the priority site for the nuclear power” the statement said.
Today, the second stage is ongoing - engineering and exploration work for licensing and approval of the selected site.
On May 17, a contract was signed with Atomstroyexport, an engineering subsidiary of the Rosatom CorporationTo speed up the launch of the project, to carry out engineering and survey for the development of a technical project.
Development of an engineering survey program for a technical project, as well as mobilization of personnel and equipment have commenced.
