The President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier has accepted the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan on May 27-29.

In follow-up to the high-level dialogue during Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Germany on January 20-22, the two leaders are expected to discuss the ways to further expand bilateral ties in the political, trade-economic, investment, financial-technical and cultural-humanitarian fields and within the Uzbekistan-EU format.

An exchange of views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda is also planned.

During the visit, Frank-Walter Steinmeier will meet with executives of major Uzbek and German companies and banks, the public, visits to a number of industrial and other facilities.

The Federal President is also scheduled to visit Khorezm province, where he will meet with faculty and students of Urgench State University, as well as get acquainted with Khiva’s historical and architectural sites.

Bilateral accords aimed at further deepening bilateral relations in the fields of economy, finance, education, health care and environmental protection are expected to be signed during the visit.
