The Legislative Chamber held a meeting of the working group to abolish the status of governors/mayors as chairman of the Council of People's Deputies (local legislative branches).
The meeting was attended by members of the lower house and the Senate, members of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Institute for Problems of Legislation and Parliamentary Studies, the Ministry of Justice, the Academy of Public Administration and the Tashkent State Law University.
The working group discussed the proposals and recommendations submitted by the ministries and departments, as well as by the Councils of people's deputies of provinces, districts and cities on the draft Modifying to Some Legislative Acts of Uzbekistan bill in connection with the cancellation of the status of governors/mayors as Chairman of the councils people's deputies ".
The draft bill was reportedly approved after extensive discussion. At the end of the meeting, a relevant resolution was adopted to finalize the draft bill and submit it to the councils of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate.
