The Tashkent province Criminal Court on May 16 issued a verdict against the former chairman of the State Customs Committee (SCC) of Uzbekistan Muidjon Tokhiriy, a source in the government told the Tashkent Times.

Muidjon Tohiriy was found guilty of committing crimes under Embezzlement, Neglect of Official Duty and Forgery in Public Office charges of the Criminal Code and was handed 3 years 6 months sentence in a penal colony and a fine of 81.1 million soums, or US$ 9,500 with deprivation of the right to hold public office and materially responsible positions for a period of 3 years.

The arrest of Muidjon Tohiriy was made public in December 2018. He served as head of the State Customs Committee from December 2016 to February 2018.

In 2006–2008 and 2011–2016, he served as Deputy Chairman of the National Security Service (now the State Security Service), from 2013 to 2016 he headed the security service of the late President Islam Karimov.
