For the first time, the Uzbek military will participate in tank biathlon competitions of the V International Army Games (ARMI-2019) on August 3–17, the Defence Ministry said.

The tank biathlon is a mechanised military sport event, with some similarities to the winter sport of biathlon, which utilizes the complex training of tank crews including their rough terrain passing skills combined with the ability to provide accurate and rapid fire while performing maneuvers.

The Army Games will be hosted by Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia and for the first time by Uzbekistan.

In February-March, four tank crews were selected at the Chirchik training ground, each of which consists of a commander, gunner and driver.
