Uzbekistan Railways and the Spanish Patentes Talgo signed a purchase contract for another two AVE 250high-speed trains.

The contract price is 57.5 million euros. In addition to the two trains, the Spanish company will also supply four spare economy-class cars, as well as equipment for the depot.

The contract will be financed through a loan from the Spanish Corporate Internationalisation Fund (FIEM). The implementation period is 2019–2021.

Now Uzbekistan Railways is operating four Talgo AVE 250 trains on Tashkent-Samarkand, Tashkent-Shakhrisabz and Tashkent-Bukhara routes.

Out of the 4,200 km of railways, more than 1,500 km have been electrified, of which over the past eight years, about 900 km. In the coming years, it is planned to electrify another 2,000 km of railways.
