The Uzbekistan Ministry of Health has purchased 200 units of General Electric ultrasound machines, which were installed in all prenatal diagnosis cabinets of multi-profile central polyclinics across the country, the Ministry said.
According to the ministry estimates, multidisciplinary clinics will now be able to cover an average of 700 thousand pregnant women (previously - 280-350 thousand) a year.
“If before a pregnant women had to travel to the capital or provincial centers, today there is no such need ... Most importantly, it became possible to early detect congenital fetal abnormalities of fetus at up to 14 weeks and prevent the birth of children with congenital fatal diseases - said Health Minister Alisher Shadmanov.
Ultrasound machines were purchased as part of the Early Detection of Congenital and Hereditary Diseases in Children for 2018–2022 Program, approved by the President in December 2017.
