Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the visiting Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn Wednesday.
The parties discussed a number of issues of the Uzbek-Luxembourg agenda and the ways to expand cooperation, including within the framework of the UN and other international organizations. It is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.
The Minister Kamilov noted that Uzbekistan regards Luxembourg as a reliable partner in Europe and attaches great importance to advancing cooperation in the Uzbekistan-EU format, taking into account the active role of Luxembourg in Uzbek-European relations.
Minister Jean Asselborn remembered with warm words his visit to Uzbekistan on March 28-29, 2010 at the head of the official delegation and underscored that the leadership of Luxembourg attaches great importance to enhancing cooperation with Uzbekistan and with Central Asia as a whole.
The parties also exchanged views on regional problems, and reiterated in particular their interest in a peaceful settlement of the Afghanistan crisis.
The ministers also addressed the issues of enhancing cooperation in tourism, cultural, humanitarian and other areas.
