A branch of the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow Medical University will open in Uzbekistan as of the 2019/2020 academic year. The decision of opening of the branch was discussed today at a meeting between the ministers of health of Uzbekistan Alisher Shadmanov and Russia Veronika Skvortsova in Tashkent, the Uzbek Health Ministry said.
In addition, three joint departments with Russian universities will open in three universities of Uzbekistan, namely:
- International department with the St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University at the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute (TashPMI) which will offer Pediatrics and General Medicine programs;
- Faculty with the Russian University of Peoples' Friendship at the Tashkent State Dental Institute which will offer Dermatovenereology program for clinical residents;
- Faculty with the Orenburg State Medical University at the Tashkent State Dental Institute which will offer Medicine and Clinical Psychology programs;
- International Faculty with St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University at the Nukus branch of TashPMI which will offer six programs: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric Surgery, Traumatology, Pediatrics, Dentistry and Oncology.
The Russian Health Minister offered assistance to the Uzbek side to introduce compulsory health insurance and in transition to a system of financing of medical organizations based on "treated case" principle.
