On March 4, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Ratification of the International Labor Organization Convention No. 144 on Tripartite Consultations to Promote the Application of International Labor Standards (Geneva, June 21, 1976) Bill into Law. The Bill was passed by the Legislative Chamber on February 5 and approved by the Senate on February 28.

As noted by the senators, the ratification of the convention will help improve Uzbekistan’s reputation in relations with the ILO and step up cooperation with international human rights organizations; to study the experience of developed countries in the field of protecting the rights of workers and employers; and improve legislation on labor and employment.

The ILO Convention 144 has been ratified by 139 states, including from the CIS countries - Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
