On February 26, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary (PDAS) for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, Ambassador Alice Wells, who arrived to attend the next round of Uzbek-American political consultations, the presidential press service said.
The parties noted the importance of the mechanism of political consultations for considering topical issues and prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation and highlighted the need to continue holding the American Business Week, which was organized for the first time last October in Tashkent during the visit of U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbor Ross to Uzbekistan.
An exchange of views took place on the issues of the peaceful settlement of the situation in Afghanistan and the active involvement of this country in regional trade and economic cooperation.
Alice Wells expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the seventh round of political consultations held February 26 in Tashkent and reiterated the U.S. commitment to deepening and expanding the partnership ties between the two countries.
During the Uzbek-American political consultations, the two delegations discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, as well as a number of international and regional issues.
On the same day, the sessions of the Politics, Security, Economy and Trade, Human Dimension subgroups were held.
