President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today held a telephone conversation with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Uzbek presidential press service said.

The two leaders underscored the upward trend and strengthened of strategic partnership ties between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan, and exchanged views on the schedule of upcoming events, including the second consultative meeting of the Central Asian leaders to be held in Tashkent in April.

The aprties focused on practical measures taken to improve the socio-economic situation in the Aral Sea region and measured aimed at mitigating the negative consequences of the environmental disaster and commended the launching of the activities of the Multi-Partner Trust Fund for Human Security for the Aral Sea region under the auspices of the UN and the ongoing large-scale planting of forests on the dried seabed are.
