Uzbekistan delegation led by Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov, attending the Munich Security Conference, met with the UK Minister of Defense Gavin Williamson Friday, the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan said.
The parties discussed the state and prospects of expanding Uzbek-British relations, a number of international and regional problems, including issues of cooperation in the fight against modern security challenges and threats.
G. Williamson, positively assessing the level of Uzbek-British cooperation in the military sphere, expressed the interest of the UK Ministry of Defense to step up cooperation in this area and told UK was ready to help reform the system of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan, including the improvement of the Armed Forces and the advanced training of military personnel.
The parties also exchanged views on the by the UK’s support for the major socio-economic and infrastructure projects initiated by Uzbekistan in Afghanistan.
