The Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant will visit Uzbekistan in April. He will be the first U.S. governor ever to visit Uzbekistan, the Foreign Ministry said.
The Uzbekistan delegation headed by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate Sodiq Safoev arrived on February 11 to Jackson, the capital of Mississippi state and on the same day met with the governor.
Phil Bryant noted that there were many similarities between Uzbekistan and the state of Mississippi (?!) - advanced agriculture, an developed textile and cotton industry, convenient geographical location and hardworking people.
The parties have agreed that the U.S. delegation would include executives of major Mississippi companies interested in building partnerships with Uzbekistan in the fields of agriculture, industry, petrochemicals and mechanical engineering.
