The Uzbekistan Foreign Minister Abdulaziz, participating in the Munich Security Conference, met with the President of Afghanistan, Muhammad Ashraf Ghani, the Foreign Ministry said.

The Minister Kamilov reportedly conveyed to the President of Afghanistan and through his person to the entire Afghan people the words of sincere respect and the kindest wishes of peace and prosperity of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The parties discussed topical issues of cooperation in the launch of a peaceful political dialogue in Afghanistan, which should be led and owned by the Afghans themselves.

President Ashraf Ghani thanked the President of Uzbekistan and the Uzbek people for their consistent efforts to promote the peace process in Afghanistan, its social and economic rehabiltation.

The parties also touched upon the prospects for the implementation of joint transport, energy and other projects aimed at creating trans-Afghan transit corridors and strengthening regional economic interconnectivity.
