The UK-based Acumen Education is intending to open a network of affordable private schools and one premium-class school in Uzbekistan together with MBU Capital, an investment company, the Uzbek Ministry of Public Education said.

The delegation of Acumen Education and MBU Capital arrived in Uzbekistan Monday to explore Uzbekistan's public education sphere and local conditions. The delegation included the founder, executive director and chief investment specialist of MBU Capital, Mohammed Iqbal, and the executive director of Acumen Education, Mark Labovich.

On the same, Deputy Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Atabek Nazirov hosted the delegation of the two companies to discuss plans for opening schools in Uzbekistan.

The executives of the two companies reportedly told they were now considering investing in a network of affordable private schools, a premium-class school and the opening of a university in Uzbekistan.

They were briefed on the public education system of Uzbekistan, priorities for the development of school education and possible models of cooperation with the UK companies to open affordable private schools in Uzbekistan.

Atabek Nazirov stressed that the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan is ready to support the companies in the implementation of this project and in getting the necessary information about the Uzbekistan education system.

The delegation of Acumen Education and MBU Capital will stay until January 26 and are scheduled to hold meetings and negotiations in the Uzbek government bodies and financial institutions, as well as to visit a number of schools in Tashkent and Samarkand.
