Next year, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan will focus on increasing the amount and range of exports, attracting foreign investments and promoting the tourism, the First Deputy Foreign Minister Ilkhom Nematov said on Uzbekistan 24 Tuesday at a briefing devoted to the annual activity results of the ministry.
The first deputy minister said that thanks to the exchange of top-level visits with Central Asian states, solutions were found on such complicated and controversial issues as the rational use of water resources, the delineation of borders with neighboring countries, the intersection of border posts between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. In addition, relations with all UN institutions, the CIS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization have noticeably improved.
In 10 months of this year, exports in goods and services reached US10.3 billion dollars, about 4 million foreign nationals visited Uzbekistan, with investment expected to top US$ 2.7 billion in the year-end.
“These three whales: investment, exports and tourism - this will be our main focus in 2019,” said Ilkhom Nematov.
Other plans of the ministry include enhancing dialogue with fellow countrymen abroad, as well as improving the legal framework of foreign policy activities.
