President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the new building of the State Security Service on Tuesday, where he chaired the meeting of the State Security Service (SSS), Uzbekistan 24 reported.
Before the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the activities of the State Security Service and its logistical capacities. He spoke with the military personnel of special units of the SSS and examined modern equipment and weapons intended for use during special operations.
While during the meeting, he focused on the issues of enhancing security and protecting the national interests, the results of reforms in the SSS and challenges, as well the ways to improve interaction of the SSS with other government bodies in countering external and internal threats.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev drew attention to the importance of improving the effectiveness of measures aimed at returning to normal life of former members of religious extremist groups released from prison, and instructed to address their social and everyday problems, employment and integration.
He also gave instructions to prevent and resolutely counteract corruption, which, he stated as being "no less threat to the development of the country."
Akso, the president touched on issues of social security and set out the ways to ensure security in the food, energy, medical and other fields.
