The Uzbek Embassy to the United States at a round table in Toronto signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association (CERBA), the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

The MoC is aimed at boosting bilateral trade and investment ties and provides for the exchange of information on promising areas of economic cooperation and changes in legislation in terms of support to foreign businesses.

The event was attended by the business executives of over 40 companies, in particular, Bombardier, Behlen, HATCH, Dentons, SkyPower, Phoenix Geophysics and others.

Uzbek Ambassador Javlon Vahabov and CERBA Chairman Gilles Breton reached an agreement on organizing a Canadian trade mission to Uzbekistan in May 2019, which will consist of oil and gas companies stationed in Alberta.

Uzbekistan investment potential was presented in Montreal as well, which in particular featured prospects for cooperation in the fields of agriculture, mining, ITs, engineering, service, and others. An agreement was reached on the participation of the Uzbek delegation in March at PDAC mining industry exhibition in Toronto.

As reported earlier the Ambassador Vahabov met with the Senior Arctic Official and DG, Circumpolar and Eastern Europe, Allison LeClaire, who stated that Canadian officials were ready to organize the visit of the Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Canada in the first half of 2019.
