On December 14, upon arrival from the Kashkadarya province, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted at the Tashkent airport the visiting Director General of the International Labor Organization Guy Ryder.
Warmly welcoming the guest, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that Uzbekistan highly appreciated the fruitful cooperation with the International Labor Organization, which for over 100 years had contributed to the promotion of social justice and ensuring the workers’ rights in the world.
Uzbekistan is the full member of the International Labor Organization since 1992, having ratified 14 conventions of the organization, including 8 fundamental conventions. The Decent Work Program until 2020 is being implemented from 2017.
The Office of the National Coordinator of the International Labor Organization has opened in Uzbekistan earlier this year.
The parties stressed mutual readiness to continue a constructive dialogue and expand partnership ties with the ILO on all areas.
G. Ryder, expressing sincere gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the cordial welcome, highly valued Uzbekistan’s social and economic policies, particularly Uzbekistan Development for 2017-2021.
The guest welcomed the harmonization efforts of the Uzbek labor standards with international standards, the adoption of the 2018-2020 Road Map for the implementation of ILO conventions.
The parties expressed confidence that the further expansion of the partnership ties will create a solid basis for deepening the dialogue and will help Uzbekistan to effectively use the ILO’s experience in developing the National Employment Strategy.
An agreement was reached on the development and adoption of a Roadmap for long-term cooperation with the ILO, continuing work on ratifying the ILO conventions by Uzbekistan, training of personnel, support for the activities of trade unions and the Confederation of Employers.
