The fifth round of the Uzbek-Swiss political consultations were held yesterday in Bern. The Uzbek delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Dilshod Akhatov, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.
“The parties reportedly discussed the state and the ways to advance bilateral relations in political, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other areas and confirmed their mutual interest in successful conduct of the visit of the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Switzerland in 2019”.
The sides underscored their readiness to diversify trade in goods and services, to prpare projects, and to engage businesses of the two countries into cooperation. In this context, a proposal was considered for holding the 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation in the first half of next year.
On the same day, talks were held with the head of the Head of international relations of the Swiss Parliament Claudio Fischer, State Secretary of the Federal Department of Finance Jörg Gasser and the newly appointed Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for water issues Guy Bonvin.
