The prominent writer Mamadali Mahmudov’s membership in the Uzbekistan Writers Union was restored on November 16, UzA said in a statement.

The membership of another two writers – Norto’khta Qilich and Dilshoda Saidolimova – has also been restored.

"The membership of the writers who were dismissed from the Union due to various reasons is a logical continuation of the current reforms," ​​the statement said.

Known by his pen name Evril Turon, he is the author of These Mountains Are The Great Mountains, Green Wolf, Immortal Rock, Cloudy Days and Moonlight.

Mamadali Mahmudov, 75, was released in the spring of 2017 after he spent 17 years in prison under politically motivated charges.
