Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov yesterday hosted the visiting Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Anu Teresita Gonzalez Fraga, the foreign ministry said.
The parties discussed the current state of bilateral ties, noting the interest in advancing the Uzbek-Cuban contacts in various areas of mutual interest.
It was noted that positive experience of cooperation within the UN and its specialized units have been accumulated over the past 12 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, which can be extended to other areas of interaction.
The sides noted that despite the geographical distance, Uzbekistan and Cuba were ready to develop economic ties and tap the existing potential and reviewed the prospects of expanding tourist, cultural and humanitarian ties.
On the same day, the Foreign Ministry hosted the first round of inter-MFA political consultations.
