A closed-door trial against Doniyor Turgunov has concluded in the Mirobod District Criminal Court in Tashkent, the press service of Tashkent's courts reported.
Turgunov, 16, was found guilty under clause "d," Part 3, Article 104 of the Criminal Code — Intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm resulting in the victim's death. Under Article 85 of the Criminal Code, he was sentenced to two years and four months in prison.
Under the ruling, his sentence is calculated from February 27, 2026, the date he was placed in pretrial detention, meaning he has one year and nine months left to serve.
The presiding judge explained to both parties the content of the verdict, their right to file a separate civil suit to recover financial and moral damages arising from the crime, and the procedures and deadlines for appealing the ruling.
As previously reported, on February 25, 2026, the underage Turgunov struck and killed traffic police inspector Hosilbek Eshnazarov with a BMW in Tashkent's Mirobod district. The inspector died of his injuries.
Turgunov was then taken into custody and charged under Article 267 of the Criminal Code (vehicle theft) and clause "d," Part 3, Article 104 (Intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm resulting in death). The vehicle theft charge was later dropped.
Junior Sergeant Hosilbek Eshnazarov was posthumously awarded the Jasorat ("Courage") medal by presidential decree, and his family was given a three-room apartment in Tashkent.
