Uzbekistan wants to adopt UN General Assembly special resolution on Enlightenment and Religious Tolerance, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev told in a meeting with Sam Brownback, U.S. ambassador-at-large for international religious freedom on Tuesday.
The resolution would be aimed at creating equal education opportunities for all, enhancing tolerance and mutual respect, as well as protecting religious freedoms and rights.
Mirziyoyev said that Uzbekistan’s policies in religious sphere were based on the principle of creating equal opportunities for all confessions.
Mirziyoyev and Brownback expressed their readiness to expand Uzbek-U.S. partnership ties in the strengthening of civil society institutions, inter-religious and inter-faith harmony in the country.
