The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Uzbek Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education today signed a grant agreement for 262 million Japanese yen (US$ 2.3 million).
These funds will be sent for education of the personnel of ministries and departments, research institutions and state companies of Uzbekistan in Japanese universities within the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) Project between 2019-2022 in graduate and doctoral programs in economic infrastructure, business environment, the legislative system, public finance management, agriculture and water resources and public health.
The JDS project has been implemented by the Government of Japan since 1999 with the aim of training future leaders in developing countries. Currently, grants for training are provided in 12 countries, including Uzbekistan.
