The Tashkent city deputies council at its 38th session approved renaming Bodomzor Yuli street in Yunusabad district in honor of the Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov, the Tashkent city mayor’s office said.
Renaming one of the streets in Tashkent to Chingiz Aitmatov (1928-2008) street was provided for by the April 2 decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued on the 90th anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov, prominent writer and public figure.
Chingiz Torekulovich Aytmatov (12 December 1928 – 10 June 2008) was a Soviet and Kyrgyz author. His stories and novels: Jamila, First Teacher, Farewell Gulsary, The White Ship, The Day Lasts More Than a Hundred Years and The Scaffold won him worldwide acclaim and were translated into several languages.
